Sometimes we find ourselves up against a wall: we may struggle with anxiety, depression, past trauma, a sense of unease, emptiness, difficulty in our relationships, physical pain/somatic symptoms, or simply a desire to live life more fully than we currently are. Psychotherapy is a powerful way of helping us grow our inner resources and of changing the way we relate to where we are in life. Just as plants need water and nutrients to grow, interpersonal neurobiology shows us that we need reliable and safe connection/relationship in early life and beyond to shape a healthy nervous system and build a stable sense of self (a feeling of ‘going-on-being’) that can move through seasons of life with a sense of wellbeing. When we feel as if we are not quite flourishing along the way, it is never too late to begin healing.
After a background in social science and person-centered counselling, I have most recently trained in the Conversational Model of Psychotherapy, which has been backed up by clinical trials as one of the most effective therapies for personality disorders/developmental trauma and has since been applied to working with many other forms of mental distress. I also have an interest in the inextricable connection between our minds and bodies, and how psychotherapy can support our multifaceted health (physical, mental and spiritual).
My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space to explore what is bothering you, and help you grow a deeper understanding of who you are, building a solid foundation from which to live a fulfilling life. I know the courage it can sometimes take to come to therapy, and if we choose to work together, I see my role in being alongside you as a privilege.
